I am attempting to backup Blades of Glory with Dvd Shrink with Nero 6.6.0.18 and have Any Dvd 6.1.7.4 installed.
After going through the process, I get the Error message:
"DVD- video files reallocation failed
IA23-OD06-7130-1217-5182-5426
Windows XP 5.1

I am not sure what this is all about I have always been able to backup with this version of Shrink and this version of Nero as I had read earlier that there were issues with the newer 6.6.1.4 and this version continues to perform well for me except for this particular Error on this Dvd??
My OS is XP sp2.
Shrink version c.2.o.15
Any Dvd version 6.1.7.4

Any help about this problem would be appreciated.
( I just did backups of other dvd's and had no problem, however this is a "dl" and I have never done one before and that is likely part of my problem?

Hi Appa
For 'dl' do you mean - dual layer or download?
I'm thinking w/ the error you received you mean dual layer. Most commercial DVD's now are dual layer.

This one - Blades Of Glory - has Sony's latest copy protection on it so you'll need to use the AnyDVD ripper to rip the dvd to your hard drive 1st or rip w/ DVDFab HD Decrypter..
Then open the files you ripped to your hard drive w/ Shrink.
Running AnyDVD in the background usually doesn't work w/ Shrink on this Sony's.

Thx for the reply, I did try to do a rip with any dvd Ripper and not sure what occurred as when I went to search for the files they were not there. It just said main movie??? And no "Blades of Glory".
Sorry, I didn't say dual layer but this what I meant. I have attempted a DL awhile back and found that I was unsuccessful mind you that was not ripping with Any DVD Ripper and using DVD Fab Decrypter.
Are there special settings on either of these programs that I need to be aware of???
I know that I have a lot of room on my HD to rip this DVD onto and then burn to a dvd.
Sorry for the questions, it is simply that I have not done a successful DL though it appeared that the process was working and it is so long ago now that I can't remember the error.
In any event I will have to go out and buy some DL's as the ones, Verbattim that I purchased are likely unuseable that came up with an error.
Though I will try DVD Identifier on them and see what it says, b/c when I put the ones that I used in my burner "My Computer" does not show any backup content on them.
Or how do I check to see if they are ok to use again???
I thought that I would be able to use Shrink and Nero on this Blades of Glory so that i could fit it onto a regular DVD and so that is why I tried ripping with Any DVD, however could not find the files, only the main movie file which had nothing in it. This was the version 6.1.7.4 of Any Dvd.
The reason that I was wanting to Shrink the DVD is b/c from the onset when I bought the BenQ 162I burner their tech support advised that the only tested dvds and recommended ones were Sony, Maxell and Imation. And so I have stuck to Maxell and Sony which are available readily here and had no issues.
I bought some of the 4.7 Verbatim to try to burn to and the Burner door kept opening and asking for a disc and so I called BenQ support again and they said they Verbatims were not tested nor recommended for this Burner.
So I bought only a small pack when I did buy the DL's as they are very expensive up North here, thus I was hoping to use my Maxells and Sonys which I have a lot of and have been able to play my dvd's on all of our family players as I do burn in DVD Rom.

just to reply to your media ........ I have a BenQ burner too...... and your BenQ burner will burn to Verbatim and Sony and Maxell and Taiyo Yuden! Use Verbatim DL disks! they are the best, IMHO! Just because BenQ techs say they didn't test out Verbatim or other disks doesn't mean you can't burn to them! And believe me...... Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden are the best around.... where most burners have correct write strategies for these disk than any other disks around..... so be confident that your drive will write correctly to these disks.

Blades of Glory has the newest encryptions for a DVD which makes it more difficult to rip! If you use DVDFab HD Decrypter, found here:
http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm
use the 3.2.0.6Beta version...... it was made specifically for breaking this encryptions for Blades of Glory.

when using DVDFab..... remember to set your TARGET to a folder where you want the ripped files to go to! here is a great guide for you:

I must have got a bad spindle of Verbatim's then..as that is why I called BenQ awhile back. My firmware is uptodate and I have no coasters with Maxell R+ or Sony or Imation which they advised that were tested and they recommended.
I have thrown out several coasters out of this spindle of 100 that I purchased at Best Buy.
DVD Identifier indicates: Manufacturer as Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. and Media Type ID: 004 made in Taiwan.
I have had problems with their +R DL that we get up here as well and these are made in Singapore??
My firmware is uptodate 47N9.
It is not only with this burner but with the better halfs BenQ burner, same model but several months newer.
The Sony media that I have no coasters on is Sony Recording Media Corp. Media type ID: 21 made in Japan and the Maxell is CMC Magnetics Corp. Media type ID: M01. made in Taiwan.
I don't have any Imation around as I have used them all up on our family mini dv transfers from our camcorder that we send to relatives for presents...easy mailing. So I don't have the details on that media, however the burners have had no issue with any of these 3 brands and so we grab them when they go on sale.
BenQ advised the R+ as well and not R-. The latter not being tested. I have burned on R- though and always do both in DVD ROM.
The only problem that I have had with this burner is that it will not copy a R- to a R+.
I had a professional edit some of my errors off my mini dv onto a DVD and he did it onto a R- Tai Yuden (sp) and the burner simply would not burn a copy from it to a R+.
My bro who is a tech tried with several different media and could not do it as well, so we stick with the brands that work.
Any comments on this???
I really appreciate hearing from a BenQ user. Is the burner the same model???

You seem to be focused on the media as the culprit which isn't the case...

This would indicate a bad rip or that there is still some protection left over after the rip and DVD Shrink/Recode can't handle the input files. I would rerip with DVDFab HD Decrypter as suggested by Binkie and try DVD Shrink again.

No, I am just posting in response to the prior poster "Iho" who was advising me about his BenQ burner and media.
So I was doing up a follow-up to that post, I hope that clarifies the issue, thankyou.
