I upgraded to 3.71m33 and stupidly changed files in my flash0 memory. At first it booted up until i tried to navigate my xmb and then froze. I made a back-up before hand and switched everything back. Now my psp will state to display the sony computer entertainment the freezes. so im taking it i have a semi-brick. I was wondering if i can fix this problem. The Recovery no longer works with 3.71m33 i have found out and i dont have a pandorea's made(i dont think i was going to brick.) any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it won't boot to the XMB then the only option you have is Pandora Method.
If you can boot to the XMB then download the file sicdude has linked to (read the read me file for directions to recover)

lol yes Pandora's Battery is by far the easiest method to unbrick and downgrade ur PSP unit atm. If u are using the Pandora's battery with the ORIGINAL 'magic' memory stick then u will downgrade to 1.5 (psp-1000s only), and from here u have many options. The only bad thing about the original is that it is not compatible with the PSP Slim.
However, with DAX's release of the univeral unbricker v3, the Pandora's Battery with the new and revamped MS will unbrick and install 3.71 M33-2 to your PSP unit (phat or slim), which is good, depending on the way u see it, since some argue 3.52 m33-4 is better.

Pandora is not the only method, I did have the same case too, but I managed to fix the problem by use the 1.50 downgrader. (same site from sicdude)
My Phat PSP History : 1.50 > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-2 (semi-bricked) > 1.50 (Recovered) > 3.40 OE-A > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.80 M33-2 > 3.80 M33-5 > 3.90 M33-2 + 1.50 Subset.

he's semi-bricked so he can't boot from xmb.is re-flashing a way to do it?or is 3.71m33 unflashable when semi-bricked?niliadar, if your only option is to pandora, then this could be stated as a brick.
how to boot recovery correctly:
1)push your switch for like 10 seconds to fully shut psp.
2)open your psp holding the r trigger.
3)wait for recovery.
did you do that?

Can you access the recovery mode ? If u can't then it's full brick, if that's the case, you'll need to use pandora.
If u can, just follow the link that sicdude gave you.

Try reading the thread fully. You even quoted his comment above and it clearly says...
Quote: The Recovery no longer works with 3.71m33
I would assume that means the Recovery no longer works.
So since the PSP freezes before booting to XMB and the recovery no longer works the only method is Pandora Battery.
@Nilladar
The reason this probably happened was due to not backing up your flash0 correctly.
Once you get recovered and if your going to mess with flash0 again make sure you back it up properly.
The proper way is enabling Flash0 via Recovery Menu
Then on the PC (flash0 window) go to Tools> Folder Options> View Tab>
Now tick the radial that says (Show hidden files and folders)
Then untick the BOX next to (Hide Protected Operating System Files)
Now drag the flash0 files over for backup.
If you need to recover flash0 then make sure the above is done before replacing the Flash0 backup to flash0 on the PSP.

Go HERE and download this recovery folder. Extract it and then go into Recovery menu. Toggle the USB and place the RECOVERY folder in the /PSP/GAME folder.
Then go to "RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP"

I followed all what you said, my psp is a semi brick, and when I went to RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP in recovery mode it runs all the way through until the end when it suddenly freezes when it tells me to restart my psp. If I turn the power off my psp becomes fully bricked.I can restore my psp back to 3.71m33 (semi bricked) with a messed up pandora. How can I stop my psp from freezing when downgrading.

Hey Guys,
just wondering , can all this work on a PSPslim?
BY some accident, i flashed my PSP to put in a custom XMB but it went horribly wrong. I also tried format and reset setting options in the recovery mode (oh btw, i can go into recovery mode)
What is my best option? Pandora bat. or downgrade?
PLZ REPLY MY EXPENSIVE TOY IS SEMI-BRICKED
(PSP slim, CFW 3.71M33)

the title should be changed to official brick thread. as regards to your question your best bet is umps IF YOU CAN INSTALL IT WITHOUT UMPS INSTALLER which is iso so u have to run it from xmb obviously u have got pan bat havent u?

Kind of hard to run the UMPS installer when it is semi-bricked and the XMB is not available.
The Link I gave is an easy installer for Universal Unbricker V3 that can run and be installed via USB in recovery mode. I also placed OS Pandora Battery Tool into a recovery folder so you can choose "RUN PROGRAM AT /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP" to run the Pandora Battery installer.

I am not trying to argue but newbies already get enough conflicting information on this site. A semi-brick pretty much = XMB no longer booting but recovery will.
So adding the UMPS option in my opinion will only confuse a newbie that can't boot to the XMB in the first place.
Use recovery folders if using FAT PSP 3.71 M33 or below which can be found HERE.
Or for FAT 3.80 M33 and ALL SLIM go HERE to recover from a semi-brick.
