Static IP Question

OK, so I have come to the conclusion that to use bitcomet or utorrent, I need to set up a static IP. The problem is that I have High-Speed DSL and one of its benefits is that if I want a different IP, I just turn it off and on, and I get it (meaning I can download from RS and bypass the 1 hour limit).


So the question is whether or not I'll be able to do this still if I set up a static IP, or if there is something I can do if I dont want a static IP?

I don't see why not. The ip address at ipconfig/all is the one you make static anyway which is the one your computer is using so nothing will change and if it does, is easily undone: http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

The IP from your ISP to the modem is different from the IP the modem gives your equipment. Although your ISP IP will change when you turn off and back on it will not affect any settings you have on your router/PC.

Setting your PC to static will no make your IP always be the same from your ISP to the modem. That will only change the way your PC talks to your router. Before you change to static make sure you know your DNS adresses. They can be found by typing ipconfig/all at command prompt when it is not static.
