I am fairly new to the digital video world. I am looking for some recommendations and help. I have a new superfast computer already equipped with Firewire, USB2.0, and have tried to use Adobe Premiere 6.0. Using adobe the file that is created gets to large very quickly, and I have had a hard time using the authoring tools.

I am looking for a simple but effective solution. I would like to go directly to DVD/VCD, and would also like the option to Author the DVD/VCD and create Menu?s and sub menu?s. My research indicates that the ADS Instant DVD USB seems to get good reviews. At this point I am not sure if I need an external capture device, or just a different type of software. I think that I want to capture the video and transfer it to my computer in MPEG2 (smaller file sizes). I this correct thinking? Any other suggestions?
I also don?t want to go to crazy, because I am on a budget.

Would appreciate any feedback that you have, especially if you have done this successfully.
