Im new to the rpg genre and would like some help choosing the best, most recent game on psp to start with. I dont like the kiddie looking stuff (big head, and little body with goofy graphics) i want sophistcated graphics, captivating story, adventure and addictive gameplay....any suggestions?

if you got a 360 then blue dragon is worth checking out,also mass effect is coming out soon.and there is also eternal sonata.all of these i think are pretty good games.oh yeah elder scrolls oblivion.thats also on ps3 and i think the ps3 version is better.

Brave Story. Beat it 3 times and still playing it. It has some really awsome bosses too.

Do you wanna try the Xbox 360 forum?
Jeanne D'arc is quite good, but it's a tactic RPG so there's a lot of criticism about that :P

Brave Story, hands down, although I haven't played Crisis core cuz sadly I lost my battery charger and I have it on my computer T_T. Try the new final fantasy too.
If none of the above work out, you can't go wrong with SNES games... the best RPGs are on that awesome system.

Hard game to find to buy but this is one of the best Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions or you could try some of the psx rpgs there a lot better than the psp games.
