Nokia E62 Troubles - Software Crash?

I have an unlocked Nokia E62. The thing was running flawlessly on the Fido network and my brother in law said the software crashed and he lost everything. He gave the phone to me and the only thing that works is the phone. Text messaging, web and other features do not work. I put in my Rogers Sim card and like he said, only the phone works. Has anyone had this problem before? Anyone have a fix for it?

Would upgrading the firmware help or do I send it to Rogers and have them "work" on it?

Any help would be appreciated.
