I want to start by saying Im very new to the linux scene. I installed kubuntu 7.10 on my hp compaq nc6230 laptop. Problem is when I try to access my wireless home network it doesnt seem to work. although when plugged into the router it works. I have my router set to not broadcast my dns with a wep password. theres a button on the comp which lights up when the wireless card is active but I cant seem to make it come on, which leads me to believe its a driver issue but could be wrong. Please help, sorry this was so long winded, thx

"although when plugged into the router it works" - i think you're saying
there that it works when wired, just not when wireless...

..have a few reads thru this epic thread as most of it's relevant in your situation - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/563575 and we'll go from there...but first you'll have to read all the replies i've done there as i'm in no hurry to go thru all that again...

You will have to install your Windows wireless drivers with "ndiswrapper" for your wireless connection to work.

Just google it and you'll find tons of information on this.
