I'm downloading a torrent right now that has 839 seeds (I'm only connecting 2), and 3163 peers (I'm only connecting 4), its average swarm speed is 400KB/s and its total is 6.4MB/s. I'm only connecting to 6 peers and and downloading at 14KB/s. If you click the link on my signature that shows my last speed test you'll see why this is so frustrating. I have gone through "good settings" in the Wiki, as well as read what everyone has been posting about their connections and advice. I am using Vista 64bit Ultimate, so may max connection attempts should be 25, I have set it to 20 in Azureus. I also have it set to 250 connections globally and 150 per torrent. I allow my upload to go to 175KB/s, but it never goes above 30KB/s. I just don't know whats wrong. I thought that my ISP might be a P2P blocker, but they don't seem to be on the list, and my connection is identical whether or not I enable the encrypition settings in Azureus. Does anyone have a decent list of what causes snail speeds in Azureus? Also, the speeds are identical whether I port forward or go right from modem to PC, and I have UAC off. Azureus has been using less than 2% of my CPU, and about 100MB of RAM. I have a SATA 500GB drive. Someone please help!! Thanks in advance.

Your screen shot indicates you have Comcast (mine also) and they definitely are on the Bad ISPs (US).
But that is mostly about seeding.

Have you taken the Tools/Nat Firewall test?
Have you cleared Azureus through your software firewall?

Also on the upload speed at the test-I have been getting false results from these lately myself.
They have been showing 120kBs, when I really only have 45kBs.
It may have to do with power boost-but I do not know.
You could try setting your upload to unlimited for about 10 minutes and watch your speed to determine your actual upload speed.
Or you could just go with the 30kBs max that you have already seen.
Then you could use the Azureus Upload Settings Calculator to adjust your Azureus settings to their optimal.
Having upload speed set too high will have a negative effect on download speeds.

The 250 global connections could have a negative effect on the router, but since you are getting slow with or without it, I am not sure this is the problem.

I'm using the Windows firewall right now, and Azureus is unblocked. My ISP wasn't on the bad ISP list before, I guess since they merged with Adelphia they are now. Either way, my download speeds should be much, much higher. I have a friend of mine with Comcast that lives about 25 miles from me, his speedtests are almost identical to mine (just a hair lower), and he'll have 10 torrents going at once, downloading over 50KB/s ea. His overall speed is almost 700 KB/s using Azureus, and I can't even get half that!

For some reason, my speeds picked up. I'm now downloading at >750KB/s, with peaks of almost 1MB/s that last for awhile. My upload is really slow though, 20KB/s. I would like to seed faster, but I guess thats where my ISP is at fault. I still believe that Azurues needs some tweaking, and does anyone have a link to an open connections patch for Vista 64Bit Ultimate? Also, whats the best router for p2p and gaming? I have a Netgear now but it crashes and needs to be rebooted if I have 3 connections running at once.
