I was using convertXtodvd for converting all my avi's to dvd and it was great. Then about 3 months ago I started getting playback problems on my standalone dvd player. The sound 'drops' for a second or 2 at a time every now and then and it's very annoying. When I rewind and replay however, the sound plays fine. I thought it was a prob with the DVD player but it's not (this happens on other DVD players too). I also started noticing that fast forwarding and rewinding caused problems too...i.e it would jump to the next/previous chapter. I uninstalled and reinstalled etc but to no avail.
So i started using WinAvi v8 but i get the very same problem. This happens with any avi file, AC3 or otherwise. Please help this is doing my head in.
P.S a new dvd player is not an option.

Is the encoding setting in ConvertXtoDVD set to "high quality/slow encoding?" Also, what kind of media are you using. I've had that happen to me before when I used to use Sonys and Memorex DVDs. Now I only use TYs and Verbatim. Also, burn at 4x and see if you notice any difference. Lastly, check to make sure there are not a bunch of programs running in the background.

I have changed every setting possible in both convertXtodvd and WinAVI including chapters on/off etc, changed burning speed to slowest (and fastest) and I use Ritek DVD's and nothing makes a difference. I have also tried burning on two different writers (Pioneer 107D and AOpen DUW1608 all firmware is up to date) and still no joy. And no progs running in the back ground.
