I bought this SATA drive not two months ago and it's showing unusual performance, namely that even with high quality Verbatim 8x DVD+R media and Sony 8x DVD-R discs I'm getting disappointing PI/PIF charts, even after a recent firmware upgrade. All of the DMA settings are where they should be. What could be the problem?

No disc is unrippable...
I'll never accept that!

You might want to read through this thread since aabbccdd and I believe greensman and cincy have this burner and the updates and one person not remembering who had to send one back. Chris http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/4/558703

Having read through the entire thread from page 4, I don't quite understand what I'm supposed to think of it. Did I happen to buy tainted media or something?

@TheExcel
I have the LiteOn LH-20A1P and had problems until I updated the firmware. These aren't your old LiteOn's of the past; LiteOn bought Benq - It is a completely new drive with a little of Benq mixed in.
When I Put the new fw KLON on my LiteOn it was a beast with my Verbatim -/+ R DVD media. I would double check your fw - might be a newer version.
Burn On,
Russell
