So here goes, I cant play 1080p files on my hdtv, they play, but skip, frames hang, audiosync problems...I have a dual core processor, and one core will be maxed out at 100% and the other at like 10%. Unless I am mistaken shouldnt it be using both cores? I have turned off the 5.1 audio, and that doesn't help, still 100% on core 1. Using CCCP or K-Lite codec pack. I can play 720P just fine, and 1080i. I dropped my screen resolution down way low to make sure it was not the video card, and set the upscaling to the TV, not the card, and it still maxed out core one, I think 1080p is just too much for the first core to handle. Using ffdshow, Anyone know how to make use of both cores when playing a video file, or any other way to get this to work. I have also tried 4 different players and 2 other codec packs, same result. Checked the file on another computer at 1080p, works fine. Using Direct x 10.

PC: Vista Ultimate
939AMD 4200+X2 dual core, 3gigs ram, 512MB GeForce8500GT,
LCD:Samsung LNT4665F 46" 1080P

HD videos rarely use both cores in my experience, but you're probably having problems because of your slow graphics card. I wasn't aware the graphics card was used much for HD video, but there's a marked improvement in HD playback performance with two PCs that have similar CPU performance but greatly different graphics performance.
Are the files a specific type, like mkv? If so, have you tried the Haali media splitter?

It is a MKV, I can play 1080P WMV-HD vids just fine. I have tried lots of different splitters, codecs, players...Do you really think it is this card? Was I wrong about cutting down the display resolution, and having the tv rescale? I thought that would give the card a serious break. I have heard of people playing 1080p on lesser cards. I'll give Haali a try

I can't say for sure, I always thought it entirely depended on your CPU, but I don't know, a 1.66Ghz Core Duo laptop gets half the performance of an X2 4200+, which doesn't seem right, so I thought the lesser graphics card it has may have played a part.
MKV files always seem the most troublesome to get to play right for some reason...
