Does the no region function on M33 custom firmwares actually work? Can it actually make your PSP region free for UMD movies? I'm hearing about a lot of people that can't get it working. Can anyone confirm that it actually works? Want to know incase I decide to get other region UMD movies..Thanks

So did you try the UMD movie with 'no region' turned off...and it didn't work?

Then you tried it with 'no region' turned on and it worked?

Well all games are 100% region free to begin with. So you wont need a hacked PSP in order to play those.

As for the actual Video UMD's, I have yet to try a region that is not my own for them (actually I have not tried any UMD Movies as of yet). Hopefully someone with some experience in this subject could shed a little light on it.

Phat PSP #2 - 3.40 OE-A
Slim PSP - 3.60 M33

I have a US psp with firmware M33-4. I bought some UMD movies in the UK (as they are practically giving them away). being uk they are region 2.

unfortunately I can't get the movies to play. I've tried enabling region free and also changed the region to europe but still the "can't read umd due to region" error.

anyone else know a way round this?

There has been reports of movie UMD's not working on the multi-region option as this option has mainly been made for UMD games. Im not sure if there is a way around this at the moment

hmm...that's kinda stupid though isn't it...since UMD games are already region free..

I don't know why M33 have this option if it doesn't even work. I have 3.71M33-2..anyone know if it works in this version? Thanks

i have a region 4 slim psp, custom firmware 3.90 m33-2, trying to play a umd movie region 1 (silent hill experience)

you cannot dump any UMD movie from another region because the psp will refuse to actually aknowledge any non-region standard umd movie, ie no umd icon ever, if you try usb iso mode you will get a lockup/freeze

trying to see the umd iso in usb mode will just freeze/lock up the psp until you insert the proper region umd movie or game, or restart

the issue here is UMD movies not games, games no problems from any region even on a non cfw psp which was always the case.

have tried all fake region, region free settting in recovery menu - NOTHING works with UMD MOVIES fullstop, those who think it works have not tried it i have and can confirm like those who have that it will not play any non original region UMD MOVIE (NOT GAME OK)

anyone have any workarounds that they have actually tested/used with success (no opinions plz)

Yeah doesn't work. Kinda stupid why the options there if it doesn't even work. I've tried some region 4 UMDs on my region 2 PSP and some of them worked. But the reason for them working is only because they were UK UMDs (region 2) originally which were then brought to Australia (region 4) and they unlocked it for Australian PSPs.....and so they work on both. You can sometimes tell this because some UMDs will have the age rating symbol for both UK and Australia on them.

But I've tried other region 4 UMDs that don't work on my PSP meaning they were originally made in Australia for Aus PSPs.

either offical 3.90 or cfw 3.90m33 will NOT make it region free as far as UMD movies go sorry.
