Hey all..
I think I have yet again managed get a virus I cannot get rid of.
My system is running slow, im on a 1.5mb internet connection but bufferting time on youtube is continous & explorer apps & programs keep encountering errors & need to close all the time.
Any help would be awesome & i thank you fine ppl in advance :)

You were right, you have 4 traces of coolwebsearch in your log. So clean up those entries. After, download both Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG anti spyware. Update them both, run them. After running Spybot, use the Immunize option in the program.
When done with all that, reboot your pc and please post another log :)

hey svtstang thankyou for your help.. i have done what you said however, system still seems slow & i am still having alot of errors & programs that take a long time to open like spybot which only opens after you double click on it twice.
here is the log if you can see or think of anything i could do. i dont want to reinstall xp yet again!

& a lot of other executables i have never seen before.. quite puzzled, dont know if it means anything but thought it might be of importance.

Sorry to hear that :/ I took a look at the updated log, there are no signs of being infected or hijaced. Here are some things to do, depending on how often or if ever you do them you many see a difference.
1.Download Ccleaner. Do a scan, let it clean out all the crap on your rig that is not needed. After, click the registry tab, do a scan, and fix all registry inconsistencies. This may be to blame for the errors you constantly get.
2.After cleaning up the registry, defrag your Hdd(s)! Most people neglect this, and can really hamper your system without proper attention.
3.After doing those two suggestions, Google Trend Micro Housecall, it is a free online scanner. It is very precise and will fix whatever it can catch.

You have been a great help, thanks.
My comp appears to be running much better now.. Still not sure if its 100% but the defrag (which i admit i havnt done for at least 8 months) seemed to work a treat & was really needed!
ccleaner/regfix seemed to help too, almost straight after i ran it the errors i had been getting pretty much stopped.
I am running the trend micro house call now & will let you know how that went too. I also plan on running an error check, memory scan & virus scan at start up.. which i am not looking forward to considering i have over 400mb of used space.
Just out of curiosity, getting some information from someone who clearly knows alot about computers, how long should all these types of scans take, what programs do you use for spyware, virus, malware & anything else you can think of & how do you protect yourself from getting infected?

I am a bit short on time right now, but I will go ahead and offer some progs you might want to check out, later on when I am at home I will dig up some links.
AV
Nod32 is the best, Kaspersky is great also. I have been using Nod32 for over a year, 100% virus free.
If you are looking for free AV, AVG free is top notch, so is Avast free and Antivir. If you go that route, go with AVG.
General Malware/spyware
Here are programs you should have, all free(if you are going the pay route, AVG Anti Spyware owns all):
Spybot Search and Destroy
Adaware free
Threatfire
AVG anti rootkit
Spybot will fill in the security holes your broweser has, and is great at finding all the nasties in your system. Adaware is also a decent free scanner, especially with respect to cleaning up privacy related tracks you leave. Threafire is a shield, it provides real time protection as well as on demand scanning. The program is still relatively new, but from what I have seen works quite well.
Firewall
Usually overlooked by many people. Agnitum Outpost Pro is by far the best firewall available. There is both a pay for and free version, the free version missing a few extra plugins found in the Pro version. Really any software firewall is better then the XP firewall, but in the end your router is the most important firewall you have!
