Hello,
I have had a sony dvd-rw for about an year all work perfecly except now I tried to burn a dvd and it said I cant. When I put a dvd inside I hear it spinning and spinning then stops (usally doesnt take that long)then when i go to my computer and check it says plz insert a disc. But it reads and writes cds. What is the problem. I also delete the program and installed it didnt work I also unscrew the dvd rw and intsalled it back and still doesnt work. I was using HP-DVD and nero and tryied other programs too but still I cant burn dvds.(only cds). Thanks.

You can also try uninstalling the IDE drives and reboot.

Do you have a Nero log you can post?

Post the Nero history log for the last burn.
It will Start like this:
Quote:
Windows XP 5.1
IA32
WinAspi: -
ahead WinASPI: File 'D:\Program Files\ahead\nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created

The end will look like this:
Quote:
Registry Keys:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)
They should be located here:
Nero 6 Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

Nero 7 Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt

Click on the IDE in the device manager and uninstall the driver.
Restart the computer and it will reinstall itself.
