Here's the deal. Recently I converted a batch of wmv's into avis and mpegs so that I could burn them onto a DVD so that I can watch them on my DVD player. Unfortunately the quality isn't that good, and when I say "isn't the good" I'm being kind, It's freaking terrible!
The picture is crystal clear, or as crystal as I want my clear, but it's the playback that's the main problem. There's jerkiness, there's chopping and there's even stopping.
Could someone tell me what the heck is going on, please. Is this a bitrate issue? Is there some magic little piece of software out there that can "repair" video files and make them easy of the eye, as well being easy on the playback?
Were the converted files output to a DVD folder before burning?
Do the files in the output folder play back ok when using the media player on the PC?
If they are ok, it is likely that the disk was burned at too high a speed or the media was not good quality - some marginal disks will play back ok on the PC, but fail in the standalone player.
I meant a folder that contained IFO, BUP, and VOB files.
If these files play ok on the PC, then it's likely that the media is poor or the burning speed was too high.
Burn at 4x on 'Verbatim' disks and see if helps.
Run ImgBurn Click 'Mode' > 'Build'
Click 'Output' > 'Device'
Click 'File' > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Set burning speed to 4x and click the green write button.
