What is the best why to dvd rip

I have a documentary dvd that I would like to rip into my hd so i don't have to carry about the cd anymore. But I don't know what is the best route to do this and which software to use. There is just one main video on the dvd that runs about 60 mins. I would just like to rip that portion out and compress it to have the best quality that's lower that 1 gig. So could anyone tell me their steps? To give you an idea what tools I have to work with, I have WinAVI video converter, and total video converter.

Hi, u can use dvd shrink to do exactly what u suggested as long as the movie is not heavily encrypted. If badly encrypted us dvdfabhddecrypter from www.dvdfab.com (freeware). dvdshrink is freeware and can be downloaded here at AD, and if not, can b found using google. Latest version of shrink is 3.2.0.15 Hope this helps
