Just wondering if Newegg.com sales on Black Friday is CHEAPER than local stores like Best Buy, Fry's, CompUSA, etc.

And one more question: Anyone know when the adds for Newegg.com shows up for Black Friday? (such as week before)

fsnknight- You'd probably have a better chance getting big ticket items from newegg { Lcd& Plasma TV's ect... ) many stores have only so many of each Black friday Item per store and if they have a big Turn out Friday morning they'll be gone before you even get in the door unless they give you a coupon while your inline BESTBUY Does that sometimes ! It reserves that Item for you !!! I've got a double wHammy to deal with Birthady & Xmas in the same Month & I still have'nt decided on what I want /need ? decisions ,decisions LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

O.K.
Buying things online is more worth it since I won't have to wait outside in the morning with chaos.

Unless you live in CA (1/8th of the US population does) you pay taxes plus S&H (specfic to NE, SMS, Meritline).

If you do a little leg work, you can get great deals now! Example, Kmart has Sony 50 pcs DVDs (+/-) for $14.00. I take the ad over to their sister store Sears, which stocks MIJ 8x DVD+Rs (both Sears and Kmart besides a few others) and I walk away w/ 200 of Taiyo Yuden's best for like $57 w/ tax after PM.

Check Slickdeals.com, fatwallet.com, nobrainerdeals.com, etc., etc.

All without having to get up at 4AM!

Tax is applied to online sales when you're getting it from within the state you reside. For example, if I purchase something from bestbuy.com, and it comes from NY (where I live), i'll be charged sales tax. If I buy something from newegg or wherever else, and it comes from another warehouse other than NY/NJ, I won't be charged sales tax.

Yeah, I know, if a company phyically is in your state of residence then you'll pay taxes. In my post above It was specific to the CA outfits (most are here - the good ones anyway) because I too am in CA. I hate having to pay both taxes and S&H (there goes the saving).

Sweet. I live in Texas so no tax for me from newegg.

fsnknight- yEP if you can get low priced or free Shipping on what your ordering & can make an end run on the state tax you may actually save money VS. BF sales ? If you can wait for them to ship the item to you ? Some people can't wait ! and Though I've never had any problems with new egg.com or most other retailers !!! There is something to be said about being able to Physically get in a store manager's Face should you have a problem with your purchase !!! Preferably in Public during busy store hours while Speaking loudly !!! He'll want to make you happy just to keep you quiet !!!!!!!( No Bad Publicity !!!!!!!!!) Also Be very careful in asking about the Store's return Policy get it in print if possible ! especially if what your purchasing comes with a rebate ! I bought a Hitachi 400GB HDD about 3yrs ago at CompUsa It had a $40.00 rebate that required me to send the UPC/Scan Barcode ( proof of Purchase) off the box in to get my rebate check . Which I did - Unfortunately The HDD was D.O.A. right out of the box !!! So back to Compusa I went with reciepts & all the paperwork I talked to some young associate there & explained the hard drive was dead in the box & I would like to replace it ! at first he said just grab one off the shelf and we'll swap it Out ! Unfortunately all the 400Gb Hitachi HDD's were sold out but they did have a seagate so I ased him could I get that instead & he says well the seagate cost more & I say I'll pay the difference over what I paid for the Hitachi. He starts to ring me up and then says Oh ! You don't have a Upc on the box we can't exchange this ! I explained about the rebate & he says return policy is no UPC no refund @ which point I became quite irritated to put it mildly !!!!!!! The sales clerk says let me talk to the manager & dissappears for 10 minutes ( He Went and hid in the warehouse ) He comes back again spouts the same line about no upc no refunds or Exchanges!!! & that the manager who I never got to see said so!!! I had my family outside waiting so I argued with DWEEB-BOy a little more and saw it was leading nowhere so I told him To Go(Blank )himself and The manager and Compusa - and I have'nt been back since ever!! nor woud I send others there!!!!!!!- Hitachi replaced the hard drive so happy ending to aggravting story finally !! but I hope you get my point ( Forewarned is forearmed ) read the fine print Always ( Especially at Black friday sales )fsnknight- & friends Sorry for venting but I would'nt want anyone else to have that problem especially if the don't have too !!!Good luck and happy shopping @ the retailer of your choice

I've had that happen to me once, and when I was 14 (currently 18).
I bought a faulty graphics card and tried to return it for an exchange, but they apparently said I was too "young" and didn't know how to do it.
After 5 mins. of arguing I told him that I may be 14, but I bet I know more about YOUR return policy then you do. I then saw the manager walk by and told him, yelled for a couple more minutes and telling the MANAGER to learn his own company's policy.
Then I won :D
