I was thinking of switching over to FIOS from Optimum Online. Is FIOS any better, the same or worse? It is definatly cheaper. I know that FIOS blocks inbound ports 80 and 8080. Is this significant? Does Optimum block these? What are these ports for? Overall, which is better?

I was an optonline customer with speeds 30/5, I switched to Verizon fios. Huge mistake, their customer service is the worst of any company, plan on waiting for at least an hour to get through.

The DVR boxes are extreamly noisey, unable to sleep with one in bedroom. I switched out the boxed 4 times same problem.

I am switching back to optonline on monday. I will also get my rewards card back which lets me go to Clearview cinemas for free with my family!! I cant wait.

We actually went with the Optimum Triple Play and everything is good except the DVR boxes we have keep screwing up. Boxes have been replaced. I loved the clean and easy to use Dish interface. I'll just stick with Optimum though, the savings are huge.
