Hey everyone this is just an FYI. A few days ago at my local pharmacy I found 100 DVD+R 8X Maxells that are MIJ. We know what that means, Hitachi Maxells! One of the best DVD+Rs to get stamped and right up there in the first tier with Taiyo Yuden. Check those Walgreens, Oscos/Albertsons, and CVSs, cause you might just have gold sitting on the shelf.

How much were they though? I wouldn't think a pharmacy would run the same sales as BB, CCity, etc.

They normally don't though you could ask them if the Pricematch ? Yup looking in the less obvious places Drugstores , or other places that sell Dvd Media but don't turn over much stock you can sometimes find MIJ -maxells ( YEAH!! BoooEY !!!!!) & occasionally even MIJ Fuji's & sony's !! But usually if you do they're in the smaller packs or spindles with higher prices ( 15-30 ct's) spindles or 3-20 ct jewel cases or 5-10ct. dvd cased dvd's But sometimes you can luck out too ! I picked up 3 spindles of maxells MIJ @ a walmart that was closing/moving to a newer store @ $18.00each with tax that's a little high but @ 50 DVD+R's for$18 that's about .36cents each so not too shabby ! I saw a shelf full of maxells once at a walmart but not on sale ! and when someone put them on sale naturally the wallyworlds ones were gone ! Check your sears stores too sometimes they have older stock ( MIJ Maxells & sony's ) on sale even !!!Though your best bet on getting a deal at the drugstores is to shop frequently and be on the lookout for closeout sales !!!

Well I must admit that I am a pharm tech at the pharmacy that I found the discs at, so I got a discount. They were about $10 for a 25 pack. Kinda pricey but worth it for a legendary, extinct media that I never found anywhere else. Normal price was $19... :( but if you care more about getting some extinct 1st class media than the price then go for it. I know some people are very cautious and "picky" about their media so they might not mind spending more for what they've known and love.

Look at it like a big Easter Egg hunt except that if you miss a Few Eggs !! ( Mij's Sony's Maxell's ,Fuji's ) They don't go Rotten and smell up your front yard LOL!!!!!!!!!!- Actually it's probably closer to a scavenger hunt? But I like the part about Rotten easter eggs so there !! I once Found a pack of MIJ FUji's at a Wherehouse Music Store - I think that there called FYE-(For Your Entertainment ?) now at least mine is . And it was a 25pk spindle for $7.99 I snatched it up and looked through the rest but that was the only spindle of MIJ - So it apys to look at out of the way places sometimes !!!

Here in the "Rugged" Extreme SoCal. Mountains,There isn't a BestBuy or Walmart for 50 miles! So I kinda depend on Pharmacies like CVS,where over this years sales 30 paks of Jewel slimlines for $4.99! I check these sale ads regularly,as the 50 mile trips get "Wearing on us disabled persons.KMart comes close at sale times ,but CVS hasn't been beat here for that price!KMarts Maxells and CVS were on sale in 07 a few times,my Rite Aid Pharmacy hardly carries any Video Bargains.I've even emailed WalMart(we'd love one nearby!Or ,A Best Buy?Been there once in ten years, too far away! Gas wouldn't cover the extra miles. So Pharmacy DVD Media? Yeah for me they got it!

Drug stores are good. And as others have mentioned, have a look too at Sears for Sony 1x-8x, MIJ. The other day I stumbled across three 50-packs and four 25-packs, DVD+R all MIJ. They were on a bottom shelf off the main pathway of normal foot traffic. Sometimes places like Big Lots will have MIJ media. Yard sales and flea markets will occasionally net some good finds.

I love flea markets but I have a feeling they might have some shifty media there. Since just about everything else there is shifty. When the weather warms up and the big flea market near my area opens I'll have to check it out.

Normally I don't buy media at drugstores however I did find a few packs of TY Sony's at 2 different Walgreens stores. Had to pay full price but it was worth it!!
Once I was in a Walgreens & they had a buy one get one free sale on Sony DVD media. I took every pack off the shelf. 25 & 50 packs both + & - R. Wound up with 3 packs of TY's & the rest was MIT.
I searched several Walgreens stores 3 years ago & grabbed all the 4X MIJ Maxells I could find. All Yellowtops & they burned great. Did it again later with 8x MIJ Maxells too...
