i need help. i use to use nero version 7 to back up my DVD's. I've upgraded to version 8 and now, none of my DVD-R disks work. I can only get the DVD+R disks to work. Can anyone help me?

Post the log and we an take a peek.
If you didn't save it you can find them here:
Documents & Settings>your computer name - like mine is binkie7>application data>ahead>nero burning rom. Or if using Recode it will be in the Recode folder.
Just need the last failed one.
If you don't see the application data folder - unhide it. Go to Tools>folder options>View tab then check 'show hidden files and folder'. Now click apply.

The illegal disc error usually means that the firmware doesn't support the media. Your firmware is update though.
I have the same drive and have burned this same media with it w/o a problem. They were Memorex & Fuji brands. So maybe you have a bad batch? Might be.
Try another burning program - here's a good free one - ImgBurn.
Use the build mode to add the video_ts to burn.
See how this goes. Still failing then pointing to the media. Ones to use would be Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim or made in Japan Sony, Fuji or Maxell.
