I have a E1505 laptop which is almost over on its warranty (over on 11/25/07) I got a letter from Dell telling me that I could upgrade the warranty till Nov. 24 2010 with free in home service for $299 with $75 in Dell dollars (Dell gift card). Is this worth it? I do need 2GB DDR2 RAM for another computer which right now at Dell is $89.99 with a $35 mail in rebate so if I do upgrade the warranty I will get the RAM for free (Good OCZ Reaper RAM http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/produ...9&sku=A1284723) One downside is that the battery is not covered under this extended warranty.
Edit:I already had to replace my DVD Burned 3 times: 1st was DOA, 2nd was also DOA and 3rd broke from a hit
My hard drive 4 times: 1st had partition failure, 2nd was sent partitioned wrong, 3rd had bad sectors, 4th finally found time to reformat myself :)
I currently have a SONY Optaric DVD Burner and a Fujitsu 120GB SATA HD.
well personally i wouldnt get the warranty because i would just replace the broken parts myself. but if your accident prone and drop the laptop a lot, the warranty MIGHT save some money.
also, if you were to get some RAM, i would suggest newegg, and it would probably be like around 30-40 dollars for 2gbs. just an fyi to consider.
I am not accident prone, The DVD burner has just been knocked off the table by my little brother when it was out of the laptop, other than that the laptop has not been dropped. As for newegg, I have checked there but if I upgrade the dell warranty might as well get the ram from there since it would be free to me. BTW, isn't this a 3 year warranty, not 4 or are they already counting my 1 year warranty?
