hey guys, whenever i encode a movie with TFM the video always turns out great but the audio always seems 'off'.. be it too loud/muffled or too soft/flat. i just can't seem to find the right audio settings. is there something i am doing wrong? i have tried both Aften and Sonic Foundry Soft Encode. both just give me average quality at best. as odd as it sounds i get the best audio from ConvertXToDVD but i'd really prefer to use TFM + CCE.

what do you guys do as far as aduio is concerned (settings, bitrate etc)?

your still new to the forum here, so please try to refrain from double posting same question in different forums..... ask once....... someone will answer your question. Double posting is against forum rules. Thanks you and welcome to Afterdawn.

Sorry I don't have an answer to your TFM question as I don't use it ....... I use ConvertXToDVD and I think that's the best program out there that does what it does. hope someone with more knowledge about TFM answers your question.

Jetsetter, ConvertXtoDVD utilizes audio boost which is why it sounds better than what you are getting with TFM. Have you used BeSweet AC3 encoder with TFM? I find it to be much better than Sonic Foundry and Aften. Pair BeSweet AC3 encoder with DSPGuru audio boost and you might get better results.

thanks for the info dizzyduck. i did not know that ConvertX uses any audio boost so i will give that a shot with TFM.. i had been avoiding it since i thought i had read about some issues with it but it can't hurt to try :) and yea im very unimpressed with SoftEncode. i think the freeware encoders do a better job for what most of use it for.

i use TFM / CCE have done for a while and the newest versions use AFTEN / sonic foundry which dont give good audio so i use TFM version 1.6.0.1 which has BESWEET for audio, and sound is great, i tick audio boost in TFM also...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.
