Good Morning everyone,
I have a problem with my compaq presario desk top. When you turn the power on the computer just beeps and takes me to a red an white screen that shows the words compaq and intel inside and also v3.16 <F1=Setup> <F10= System Recovery> and it just beeps. I can not use the keyboard or move the mouse it is just dead and a constant beep.

I called the tech support and they told me it was a hardware issue and I need to clean the ram port or replace the ram. I bought a new ram 256 and installed it at the same port and it locked itself in with now problem. when I restarted the computer it just did teh same thing. it cant even load a disk or floppy disk to reboot with the xp startup disk (6 disc from windows). I called the tech and they said it could be the hard drive so I bought a harddrive the same manufacturer and was compatible but still the same problem. Now I am being told it is the motherboard adn it needss to be replaced, that is like going out and purchasing a new computer. CAN anyone give me some useful advice to the matter and help me to fix this long never ending beep so that I can get my computer working again. Please any help is helpful and thatnk you for any advice or comments.
