hey guys, i managed to seperate both the audio and video from a Divx file that i downloaded but i'd now like to encode the seperate video file with CCE (later to feed it into Tmpgenc along with the wav file that i extracted using VirtualDubMod, to create a playable DVD). does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that? it appears as if im unable to just open the file in CCE and click 'Encode'. it's very frustrating!

Why don't you encode the original video file through CCE and demux the audio/video that way? Either way you do it I would run your wav file through Normalize (if desired) to increase wav volume and then run that through BeSweet to encode to AC3. Then, if the "original" video file worked with CCE, it should create a mpv video file. Then run the mpv and AC3 through Tmpgenc and WHAMMO! Playable DVD. I personally prefer DVDLab to Tmpgenc, but to each his own. Hope that helps.

you're right about the demuxing with CCE. perhaps i will give that a try. does the audio have to be re-encoded to AC3 or could i just use my existing wav file in Tmpgenc (or DVDLab)?

also, a little off-topic but do you know anything about the 'Low' and 'High' options in the Picture Settings of CCE? Low is currently set at 32 if that makes it any more identifiable. not sure if i have to tweak these or not.

The audio does not have to be re-encoded to AC3. But if you leave it as wav, you will occupy more space on the disc. Converting wav to AC3, or at the least mp2, will compress a 1.25GB wav file down to about roughly 300mb, allowing for higher bitrate with video and without nearly any loss to audio quality.

I'm not in front of my PC right now so I'm not sure of the setting you're talking about. There is one I change, but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. I know it's defaulted at 17 or 18 and I change it between 26-29. I think it's the quantanizer characteristics. Not sure. Let me know if that's it or not.
