Just got the R4 - I dl the latest english firmware and put the 2 folders nad 2 files on my 2GB card - put into the brand new DS lite and NADA. I added some games (nintendog's) - and finally got it to boot to the R4 screen (pacman looking, music and mac face) -

But I'm not able to get it back to this -- it continues to boot up to the DS screen.

Any ideas?

Did you format the 2gb micro sd card to the fat 16 format? Also what brand of Micro SD is it?

I formatted at first in Fat 16 - but at that point I could not get it to boot up at all. I then formatted in Fat 32 and same results...

I then read some posts about blowgin into the slot and after doing that several times it worked. Problem is that just about every time I take the card out to load more stuff - when I put it back in it does not work on the first time.

I'm using a Lexar 2GB Micro Card.

Perhpas I just got a bad one - as I don't think having to blow into the card and clean the contacts every time is going to be a "HAPPY PLACE" for me.

It could be the Micro SD. I know many people here (including myself) us a Kingston Micro SD cause sometimes the r4/m3 is picky abut which brand is being used. I think the other trusted brand is Sandisc.

The R4 could very well be bad. Especially if you have to blow in it every time before it shows the slightest sign of life. Do you know anyone that might have an R4 or a spare micro sd that you can test out in your R4 to see where your problem is?

Good idea - I'll pick up another 2GB Scan Disk and see if that works any better - I have several SanDisk 4GB HDC's but I heard they will not work.

I have another R4 on order - should have in a week or so and will be able to determine if I have a bad one or if its the card.

I was also thinking about getting the M3REAL - so I can use 4GB SDHC cards - Is the M3REAL easy to use?

Not sure. I have the M3 DS simply and its been working flawlessly for me, so I have not been looking at other solutions.
