DUAL CHANNEL MOTHERBOARD AMD ?????

i have just received this computer from a friend and when i power it up it has no video no post no nothing it came with one stick of 512mb DDR memory. The video that is on this mobo is shared with the ram so if there is no ram than there is no video and vice versa . now i know this is a dual channel memory motherboard and it needs to have dual channel memory. But wont the one stick i have work?

the motherboard model is a : asus a8n-vm csn rev 1.10gc

i thought it was the power supply but checked it with a multi meter and everything is ok. i also checked the jumper settings for the bios and cmos thinking that maybe someone had a video card in it at one point and the bios was set to NOT use the on board/integrated video adapter. IDK i have checked everything and it all keeps pointing to this ram the stick that is in it works fine. i think i need to have to sticks in the board though? bc its a dual channel board right? lol im not very familiar with dual channel memory maybe someone can help.

any help greatly appreciated thanx

can run a dual channel board with 1 stick of ram. change the jumper to "use" the onboard video. make certain the cmos jumper is on default but clear the cmos 1st as have found that to work sometimes to kick start a stubborn system.

ddp meant you Cant use dual channel with only one stick. Also if it doesn't have a video card than you HAVE to use the onboard video.
