sound problem on video,very strange

hi
the sound completey went on my 5th gen ipod vid,i bought a new headjack and fitted it,then the battery wouldnt charge so i got a new one.
now the sound and batt works ok till i play it for 5 mins,it then goes crackly like a radio station not tuned in.
when i turn it off and leave it for 10mins its ok for another 5mins then goes crackly again.
any ideas what it may be?
