If it's, for example, a DivX file and the subs are .srt format and the standalone player is DivX compatible, then as long as the video and the subs have the same name (myvideo.avi myvideo.srt) they can be burned to a data DVD.
If you want to convert the AVI to DVD format with subs, then use DVD Flick to add the subs.

I assume your playing the video on the PC using a media player - the subs have to be turned on from the menu.

If you are using Windows Media Player, start it running.
Click 'Play' 'Captions and Subtitles'; select 'On if Available'.
Then click 'File' and open the folder that the DVD Flick saved the files.

hi!!

I read your conversation about the subtitles. I have a question though.

I have the movie "Fantastic Four 2" and it subtitles. I want that movie burn it on DVD with the subtitles so when the movie play on my DVD player (not on my computer) the subtitles appear.

I have downloaded DVD Flick. What should I do to "combine" the movie and the subtitles on a DVD?

I would realy appriciate if you reply on my question.
Thanks a lot!!!

Burn the DVD with 'ImgBurn' by locating the output folder containing the files created by DVD Flick

http://www.imgburn.com/

Run ImgBurn

Click 'Mode' > 'Build'
Click 'Output' > 'Device'
Click 'File' > 'Browse for Folder', highlight on the 'VIDEO_TS' folder, > 'OK'
Set burning speed to 4x and click the green write button.

The subtitles are turned on by the remote control of the standalone player.
Depending on the remote, it has a 'Subtitles' button, or it may be a 'Display' button.
The manual contains the instructions.
