Hi I have a laptop easynote 7 which i had running on a 256mb ddr 333 and a 512mb ddr 400 both of which are non branded.

I purchases a 512mb 400 samsung memory and swapped it for the 256mb so it would give me 1024mb but as soon as i swapped it the laptop comes up with all sorts of errors like explorer error plus more and it still does this even when i have tried to run it on its own then it will just reboot.

Would it make any difference if i upgrade to vista?

And does it sound like the ram stick is faulty or is it just not compatible with my pakard bell?

Thanks for any help in advance :)

The simplest way to check would be to run the Samsung RAM on its own and see if the errors still occur. If they do, it's probably a faulty stick of RAM (or it's incompatible with your laptop, same result). If they don't, then the Samsung stick may not be compatible with the other RAM you have.

Thanks for replying sammorris, yes it has same problem on its own, the system information shows it there but the comp then crashes and reboots, wasn't sure if i installed vista that this might cure it, don't ask me why i thought it might it's just one of those things you think might just help lol.

I'd probably guess that installing Vista would make it worse. Something about my old motherboard meant that while I could run XP fine, Vista wouldn't even install.
If you get errors with it solo, then you're probably better off taking it back and replacing it with another.

Indeed. Annoying, but oh well. it may be wise to try a different brand when you replace just to make sure.

Yeah tried it in both holes zer0ink, i have given it to a mate to check out, so we shall see if it is really dodgy. it just seemed strange that it booted up for a while enough for me to go check its on system info and then start causing probs like closing programs running.
