Okay, here it is. I am using WINAVI Video Converter 8.0 I also use Fox Dvd creator 8.0

I have been burning movies using these programs, but what i'm noticing is that there not burning at the same bitrate or screen size that the movie was ripped in. I only have a few options to choose from in the advanced conversion settings dvd encoder on WINAVI. For the bitrate it only gives me 128, 160, 192, and 124. There is also an audio encode mode: AC3 or MP2. Right now it is on AC3 and i think that is the best encode mode. I can choose "auto" or 4:3, 16:9 for the aspect ratio, and i can choose target format PAL or NTSC. Well, this movie i'm burning is 576 x 304 pixels and 127056 bitrate. I converted with the closest option on audio(which was 126000), and put the vaspect ratio and target format as auto. Well, I burned the movie and the picture is good, but you can tell that the audio is off. This has happened on a couple others i burned too, it's either the screen is messed up or the audio isn't in synch or both. What i want to know is how do i convert everything how it was ripped and then burn it the same way?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Oh yeah, I tried burning at a slower speed and that helped with the audio de-synch problem i had on one, but with this one it didn't matter. The conversion is still the same.

use a better converting program...... I use ConvertXToDVD...... just add your AVI files and let the program do it's thing! You can check out the setting if you want. Remember, the program is as good as the AVIs that you are trying to convert. If your AVIs are damaged from downloading them from the internet then you can't expect the program to convert them properly (such might be the case with audio sync problems). So check and make sure your AVIs play properly before converting.

I always make sure that the avi are good, and most of them are when i watch them on my computer. So far WINAVI is my favorite program for converting and burning, but i will try that one you use. It only takes like an hour to convert and burn using WINAVI. How long does say an hour and a half movie take to convert using that ConvertXTTODVD program you use?

that depends on the bitrate......... I just finished a project to fit 16 videos, with different formats, and put it on one DVD with ConvertXToDVD. the 16 files came out with 5+ hours of video on it and ConvertXToDVD did it in less than and hour and a half!

Wow, that is fast. Well, I realised what the problem is. Not all the DVD's i was converting were dvdrips they were TS=telesynch'ed so the quality isn't good and that's why some of the audio is off. I deleted them, and will throw away the dvd's too. I used convertxtodvd it takes about the same amount of time to convert and burn as WINAVI does. so far I haven't seen much of a difference, except with you can use 2 audio channels with convertxtodvd.

I'm sure you can use the search, above, and see how to do DVD to AVI! http://forums.afterdawn.com/search/searc...l=en&lr=lang_en

also, try not to hijack the thread to suit your needs.... it's against forum rules and if you have your own question please start a new thread where members can answer your question directly.... don't start a new question, for your own means, in someone else's thread. just not polite, either.

I have searched for other threads in this area but all are avi to dvd. Also if you look on the forum I did post a new thread. No one has replied yet and I figured in a thread talking about doing the opposite the people posting on that thread would be knowledgeable. It was just a question and one at that. Because of you, I have to post on this thread about nothing relating to the topic and start defending myself. Also, other people have posted questions on other threads, including mine and no problem there.

@Kairu....... I don't make the rules up.......I'm sorry..... but here is what it says:
8. Don't reply with an off-topic comment/question -- instead start a new thread.

don't hold me accountable......

that's not my fault. You wouldn't want another member taking over YOUR thread with his own questions, do you? I don't mean to be rude at all but rule #8 is there for a reason.

here is a program that will take DVDs and convert it to AVIs:
AVS Video Converter.... just add all the files and it will convert to AVI.

i've teleported the other thread to the relevant forum, no wonder no-one had replied to it before; no biggie, someone should be able to help you with that one now, so you'd be better sticking to that one..
