Hello all, I'm a bit of a PC Noob. I was hoping you could help me with a question..

I have a ALienware M9700 laptop currently running a Nvidia GeForce 7900
And I was looking to buy (eVGA e-GeForce 8800 GTX 768 MB PCI-Express Graphics Card)

Does anyone know if that card is compatable with my pc?

Thanks!!

Best advice I can give you here is to contact ALienware to find out for sure. I looked up the specs on there website and it isn't to clear on what you might be able to upgrade to except for there dual card 7900. I highly doubt that card will go into a laptop though unless you have some special laptop there :-)

cheers

Haha, a 8800GTX in a laptop??? lol! Well to answer your question, no. The GTX is way to big, so you wont be able to fit it in, and even if you could, you would find out that you cant switch laptop's graphics cards since the 7900GO is a "Go" version of the 7900 series card. Its a integraded chip.

So, dont bother.

Thanks alot for your guys help, after doing a little research I saw that the GC I mentioned was for a desktop.

So there is no way I can upgrade my card huh... that sucks

Do you think Crysis will be able to play on my current one? Thats my whole purpose of wanting to upgrade in the first place

Hmm, not on all high. But it should definitely play it. Probably low/medium settings at a good resolution.

the Go7900 isn't too bad. You will be able to run Crysis, with a lot of the settings turned down. There are laptops now available with 8800s in them, but I doubt you'll be able to upgrade yours.

really sam? All the laptops I see offer at the most, a SLi 8700GT... No 8800s that I've seen yet...
