Not sure if everyone knows you can do this so posting a new thread just incase because I didnt know:
I unlocked my W810i (removed simlock so can use any service provider)(r4ea031 firmware but others available) with standard usb cable (dcu-60)using a patch I got here:

Patches for lots of sony ericsson phones there actually
like w700 w800 k750 k510 w300 z550.

Basically you flash a small patch to main firmware using a program called setool2lite.very simple,best thing is its free!! go to link above for more info.

CHECK WHAT FIRMWARE THE PATCH IS FOR BEFORE YOU FLASH,MAKE SURE ITS FOR YOUR PHONE.
Its at your own risk,also if you reflash your firmware for any reason you will have to apply patch again
This is patch for w810i, I have tested and works fine,also did a k750i for a friend of mine with no problems.
