Wow, after skimming through like 15 of the same questions over and over.... in the SAME TOPIC of what if i do this....what if i do that.... now i got a headache from stupidity!
I love playin with modded consoles but you gotta know how to do it by means of what's goin on, not by sittin their like a baby people and gettin spoon-fed information. This is my first post here and a LOT of questions, honestly, were of the utmost ridiculous redundancy i have ever seen before in my life, haha.
Now, i didn't read every single page and since this D2CKey chip is new, i figure there isn't a ton of info out yet but i am just lookin for a couple of basic answers-
I just ordered me a premodded D2CKey Wii. It will be NTSC-U (it better be, hehe)
Anyway- Correct me people when i make a mistake(below this line, everything above is correct, haha)-
Keep my system up to date through Nintendo. If loading a game, check with Brick Blocker to ensure it matches my region to be on safe side. If firmware on that disc is newer, that's safe for my system.
If game is of a different region than NTSC-U, brick block it. If it doesn't play, eat the DVD and sh** digital dye for a day.
Questions-
For the D2CKey modchip-
Is it still necessary to brick block out of region games to get them to play and MOST WILL play after brick blocked?
Why is there region converters or patchers out there for Wii systems? If you convert an out of region game to your region, isn't the update STILL out of region?
And finally..
Using the correct region games with your region system- there can NEVER be a way of not only semi-bricking, but also none of this multi channel issues? In other words, i can have a Flawless victory in my region regardless of what is booted up as long as it's the same region as my system?
(I have to ask this last question due to assurance. Not a lot of experienced info readily available yet for this chip).
Thanks for all the replies, comments, negative feedback, and not replying, just viewing posts, hehe
just playin.
I have a PAL(UK) wii with a D2cKey chip.
To be sure i have always updated my system to the latest firmware via the internet and have also accepted updates from my PAL backups.
To find out what region game you have you can use Wii BrickBlocker and it will confirm which region game you have.
All the downloaded (PAL) backups i have used have been burnt on verbatim DVD-R and DVD+R at 4X speed using nero 7. All my PAL games have worked flawlessly and on occassions have updated my system safely as i was sure they were PAL games.
With NTSC games i have only patched the isos with Regionfrii from NTSC to PAL and then played them. They have never asked to update my system and i never use Brick Blocker as sometimes it makes the games un-useable.
In your case just use regionfrii to convert from PAL to NTSC then burn the ISO, only use brick blocker if the game doesnt work.
Go to the Wii compatibility list to find out which games work and which do not before downloading as sometimes it can be a waste of time.
Good luck.
As with most different region things on the Wii, nothing is certain. I am not entirely sure how regionfrii does it, but considering the fact that not even a modchip can bypass region with 100% accuracy, I don't think a program will be able to either.
The most crucial thing to remember is do not update via a different region game. If you avoid doing this, you should be fine. (updating from another region changes firmware directories, or in other words, you've just made a UK Wii think its from Japan).
I am almost certain it is impossible to get the duplicate channels and settings semi-brick via a game from your own region.
If you want complete piece of mind, just wait a short while and buy the same region game.
