I have nero 7....then installed 8 from a friend....worked ok until I attempted to use showtime...it said pirated copy...I clicked ok...I did some restore points...etc., etc...long story short...I'm back to version 7...can't uninstall 7 or reinstall version 8...
Most everything still works with my present 7 except for showtime and start smart
Here are the messages I keep getting...depending on what I'm trying to accomplish...
nero showtime cannot load skins...skin folder empty...reinstalled skins from another computer...still says the same thing...
Can't remove 7 or reinstall nero 8...it says that...
advcntr3.dll... not found on system
Please reread my post...It won't let me uninstall either...seems that the only way out here.... is to go into the registry and change the administrators permissions code...and find this dll file, but I need someone to tell me how to do that...
I just tried doing a fresh install with version 7 and 8 in safemode and got this message...
With 8....The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation.
With a 7 reinstall....Can't install in safemode.
Well, since I am the system administrator, my guess would be that nero did this to my computer...
Pirating may be illegal, but I would guess that messing with one's computer registry is also illegal...not to mention that they messed up my version 7, which I've been using for some time now...so where do they get the right to do that?
On another note...this program like some others nowadays takes forever....you'd think you were reinstalling the operating system...just think if you were starting anew and every program that you had accumalated over the years had to be reinstalled with the same fashion as nero...I mean, like you'd be forever...and that's assuming you were even capable of doing this...now imagine...paying a compter geek to do it for you....might as well throw it out for the garbage man...which is where I get all of my computers nowadays....
Anyway, if all else fails...I may just contact Nero and in no uncertain terms...ask them where they're coming from....which is Gemany, right??????

I misunderstood you, about uninstalling the program, I guess....after reviewing the nero site you suggested...I downloaded and used the clean uninstall tool, which worked...
I then reinstalled my old version 7, which I think I'll stick with for now...
Now,...how many programs are you aware of, which require you to visit the makers website...just so you can uninstall it properly...
Anyway, thanks for your help and response....I really appreciate it...

This isn't the norm. Any app can be uninstalled with no problem whatsoever. What you had probably was nothing more than a corrupted file or a registry error that occurred during the installation or upgrade. Other applications that have the same fault would be Roxio and even MS Office. I'm glad you were able to rid the problem...
