[Problem]Very low burning speeds

Hi all.
I have a Samsung SH-S203B with the latest firmware and i am having a problem.
Everytime i burn a dvd i set my regular speeds (4x sometimes 8x). When the application starts burning, the speed automatically drops to 2x which makes the burning process last at least 20 minutes.
I tried a lot of DVD brands, all supporting 16x speed but the problem persists.
I tried Nero, Alcohol, PowerISO... problem is the same for all of them.
Once i had this problem on my old pc, i formated it and problem solved, but i don't feel like formating my actual pc, too much data too save.
I hope anyone of you can help me as soon as possible.

Do you have the latest firmware update for your burner? Have you checked in Device Manager to make sure your burner is running in Ultra DMA Mode 2, or higher? It may be running in PIO mode, if you have had problems.

In the BIOS the drive info is:
PIO Mode: 4
DMA Mode: UDMA 5

Get the information from Device Manager. The UDMA 5 is your hard drive.
To get to Device Manager, go to Control Panel, click on System, click on Hardware, then click on Device Manager.
Click on the + to the left of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. Highlight the Secondary IDE Channel, right click on it, and click on Properties. Click on Advanced Settings. If anything there is set to PIO mode, try to change it to DMA in the Transfer Mode. If is doesn't take, click Cancel, then right click on the Secondary Ide Channel, and select Uninstall, then OK. Reboot your computer and see if all is well now.

I have two secondary IDE channels, but the first one was actually at PIO mode. I changed it do DMA if possible, clicked ok, and opened again to verify, and it still was at PIO. If i uninstall it, then it'll install again right?
By the way, the drive is SATA.

Thank you very VERY much! The uninstallation method you said above really worked out. Now the channel is at Ultra DMA Mode 5 and I can return to normal burn speeds.
