I was looking into it.
You say the phone is locked to Cingular.
It seems to be AT&T to us.
Was this phone ever on the old AT&T now Cingular?
Also, have you tried any codes?
If so, give codes tried and number of tries.

Hi. When I purchased the phone in 2005 it was locked to Cingular at the time. Cingular has since changed their name to the new AT&T, but it's cingular branded. I have tried to unlock this phone on different occasions using the nokia free unlock software, but I have never written the codes down since they didn't work. I probably only have one more try to do it successfully.
Always looking for assistance. I'm new to all of this.

Insert a non accepted sim, you will see "Phone Restricted"
Press UNDO, enter the code below in the restriction box and then press OK

I'll Go with what you know.
Read the instructions below.
Use a SIM with NO security PINs or codes.
Use a new SIM or set all security settings to default.
1234 and 12345 etc.
I have a Nokia 6620 Cingular branded for the U.S.

Your code:Try this ONCE and ONCE only.
Remember,you only get 3 to 5 tries.
If you enter the same code two times,
that is two tries.
To enter code:
Make sure battery is charged.
Put in a SIM from a new Network.
Power on.
Select UNDO with NEW SIM in phone.
Press the # key.
then press the "star" key (*)
quickly to get the P and W and +
Press * 3 times quickly for (p) \
Press * 4 times quickly for (w) IMPORTANT
Press * 2 times quickly for (+) /
and the rest of the code---
Begin with # and end with #.
No spaces.
Select OK
IMPORTANT!!
Verify code before pressing the last #.
Pay attention. You only have about two seconds.
"Phone restrictions off", it's unlocked.
"Error code" wrong code. STOP tell me.
"Not allowed" or "Can Not Undo Restriction"
it is hard locked.
Used up all your free tries!!
If it does not work, tell me: What happened?
What message you got.
What codes you tried.
Above all, answer.

I actually didn't try it yet because I don't have a new sim. Well, I have a sim from another carrier that won't work in this phone b/c it's locked. Does that count? Let me know and I'll try it immediately. Thanks guys!

Yes, a sim that doesn't work is what we consider a non accepted sim and that's the one you should put in when entering the code.

bad news...it says basically insert a sim or sim card not available... I think I had my 5 chances b4 this one. Is there any way to get it unlocked or is it permanently locked? Thanks!
