For some reason, the USB ports are not working on my daughter's PC (she's 9). The drivers seem to have gone. I don't know where they have gone, but now the mouse, printer and the steering wheel for her racing games are no longer detected, and when I looked in the system files, the USB listing has a big yellow question mark on it and when I check the properties, it says no drivers installed. How do I get them back?

Or have the USB ports packed in themselves?

I guess I need the drivers so that I can burn them onto a CD on the downstairs PC and then install them, but I can't find them anywhere, as I suspect it's likely the software not the hardware that needs fixing.

Help please. She's driving me insane!!!

That does sound odd, I can't guarantee it's not a hardware problem, but what you can try is reinstalling the chipset driver for your motherboard. If you don't know what motherboard you have, you should be able to look it up (or even get said drivers) on the website of your PC manufacturer.

uninstall the devices with the exclamation marks & restart windows so it can find new hardware & maybe load it's drivers. what is the make & model# of the computer or motherboard?

@bilbosh

You could also try a system restore, That might fix the problem.

If not like others have said, just find the model# of your motherboard, go find the chipset drivers for it and re-install them.

If that dosen't work, it's very possible the ports are dead, it's rare for that to happen, but it can happen.

If I can't sense time, How can I heal?
Why am I in this precorpse state?
