Ok, I do a lot of vidcaps (video captures) from movies.. and like to make clips from DVDs (rip DVD, then use VideoReDo or similar software).
Is there any differences between PC ROM drives for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray? Basically I'd like to get the same functionality as a DVD drive, where I can pop in the HD disc, use PowerDVD to do my vidcaps, and other software to rip the data files then burn to a backup disk, etc...
For someone wanting to work with the raw files on an HD disc, is there any format between HD-DVD and BluRay that are more difficult to work with over the other?
I just read in another thread that PowerDVD Ultra won't let you play discs if AnyDVD is present (no problem - just disable it). But this is the kind of thing I'm concerned about. Are there any other differences between HD/BR that make the files harder to work with?
My setup is..
AMD Ahtlon 5000+ w/2GB RAM
Samsung 22" LCD monitor (the 2ms one)
ATI x1950Pro video hooked up to monitor with DVI
PowerDVD 7.2 Ultra to play
VideoReDo for clip-making
I can play/capture no problem when I capture HD streams to a .TS file, and can convert the .TS file to MPG2 using VideoReDo no problem, but I want to be able to work with the files right off the HD or BluRay disc. So simply put, is either format easier to work with?
