Try this code

Put The Foreign Sim In when it says sim restricted press unlock/undo,

then enter the above code . if this fails do it with out the sim

Thanks both. I'll try that code/confirm IMEI as soon as I can get hold of the phone, which may not be for a few days. My friend's a technophobe & I have to do it all for him.
