I have been using Nero 6 and now Nero 7 Ultra Edition for several years. I've just recently run into a problem trying to import files from a dvd+r. Essentially, I will copy a title from my DVR to a DVD. Then take the dvd to my computer to trim the title. When I go to Nero Recode and import the title, when it was working okay, I would see an entry like Title 1 and the length of time. Now when I try to import a title, it will show two entries: Video - RM and Video - TS. If I try to select either of these two entries, nothing happens. As a result, I cannot import the video on the dvd+r into Nero. When I place the dvd+r in my DVD-Rom, Windows Player will pop up and play it okay. This one has me stumped. Any idea's would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Thank you very much for your reply. I went through the process you recommended and pulled up the data files from the dvd. I then re-selected DVD Video and tried to import the data. I received the following error: "Nero Recode encountered an error and cannot continue. The DVD could not be imported because the navigation structure is invalid. A VOB file contains no cells." The video files I am trying to plave on dvd are not encrypted, although I do have dvd43 installed.

Something has changed in my system. Previously, when I transferred a video from my DVR to a dvd and then brought that dvd to my computer to further transfer the video to another dvd, after I have edited the original dvd using Nero Recode, I would be able to import the video files with no problem.

I just eliminated the dvr as the source of my problem. Now, I need to pull out an old dvd recorder and see if that is the problem. I would hope that Nero would allow a conversion from a VOB file to a standard video file, but, based on the above, it doesn't seem to work with VOB files.

Thanks again.

Hi lhb0821
This may be out of left field but I had a similar problem w/ Recode. I was editing a dvd of a friend of mines band that he copied on a dvr.
Now I can't remember if the dvr recorded disc had the video_rm or was video_dr (something along those lines). I don't have he's copy handy.
But I used DVD Shrink - reauthor mode to trim the video and cut out which clips I wanted.
You might want to try DVD Shrink - it's free :)

Hi binkie7. Thank you very much for your reply. Since my last post, I reinstalled my older dvd recorder and recorded another video. I just checked it and it turned out okay. So, apparently I have a problem with my newer recorder. The resulting video files do not work within the confines of Nero Recode. I did try one of the earlier discs with DVD Shrink and it could not read the file that was on the dvd. Haven't figured that one out yet, as Windows Media Player works just fine with the dvd. But, as I noted earlier, I wanted to edit out some stuff at the front and end so I need Nero to do that. Haven't tried any re-authoring with DVD Shrink yet.

Thanks again.

Not a problem lhb0821 though my suggestion looks like was out of the ball park :) Oh and it may have been a vr format not dr like I wrote :)

I'm not a dvr expert by far but check the setting in the new recorder - you should be able to change the recording format there.

Hi Binkie7. Thanks again for the reply. I've taken a look at the settings on the recorder but haven't determined any setting that looks out of whack. I'll hook it back up tomorrow to see if anything has changed. Sometimes, these electronic thingy's will reset themselves when the power and connections are completely removed. Will advise after I complete that tomorrow.
Thanks.

Well, I reinstalled my newer dvd recorder and set the default settings. The first time I tried to record a video, it produced the same results as before. Then I decided to change from a dvd+r disc to a dvd-r disc. It recorded okay - or rather it produced the right result in Nero Recode for me to edit and burn the disc. So, I went back one more time with a dvd+r disc and it gave me the results that started this discussion. Now, I need to figure out why it works with a dvd-r disc and not a dvd+r disc. Before this problem surfaced. I only used dvd+r discs to record the video. It may be machine specific. I have a Pioneer 640H recorder. Guess I'll pull out the manual again and see if I can sense a difference between the two formats.
