Hi I have a problem when changing a downoaded movie into a DVD format on a MAC.

Please excuse my ignorance of this subject but I have a very basic knowledge of computing. I have downloaded movies from various torrents which I play straight from the hard drive however when I try to change the format and burn to DVD using Toast I lose the sound. The picture quality is superb is there something obvious I'm ding wrong.
