My local best buy had a sale on verbatim dvd+r's last week; they were already sold out so I got a rain check. I went back today and grabbed two 50 pack spindles, they were made in India not Taiwan. It came out to a little over $27, a damn good deal if you ask me.
I used Nero info tool and they code out the same as my last spindle that was made in Taiwan.
[Mitsubishi chemical corp.]
[MCC]
[004]
I then burned a dvd and used Nero disc quality scan, I got a quality score of 95 on 4x with quick scan, and 90 on 4x in the standard mode.
I'm curious, is it the code/manufacturer that determine the quality? Or are verbatims made in Taiwan better than one's made in India because of strict quality control.

Quality control in Taiwan (CMC and Prodisc) is better than India (Moser Baer).

Thanks for the replies everyone
paiger651- thanks for the link, despite searching I couldn't find anything regarding Taiwan vs. Indian verbs. I saw your disc quality scans and I can see why you returned the MII verbs.
Strangely my MII verbs test better than the MIT. The last MIT dvd's I bought in August now have really sporadic quality; for the most part they stay around 93.
I just made two backups of the movie "Knocked up"; believe it or not the MIT verbs gave a quality score of 16! Barely scraping by. The MII got a score of 95 with only a maximum 2 PI failures, nice even lines, no spikes. (I didn't multitask at all just let it sit and burn, I did both back to back for comparison)
I?m still on the fence, Ill have to see how the first half of the MII spindle goes. Worst case scenario I'm out $13 and ill return my other spindle.

Hi guys,
I have used verbatim disk that are made in taiwan with no problems for over 600 disk but recently I found out that verbatim dvd disk had lost its quality.. I have 70% failure out of 100. I check there is no problem with my burner my firmware is up to date and I burnt at the speed of X4. I have tried out those made in Japan dvd disk with no problem at all.

It could be that you got a bad batch it happens.I have used thousands of the MIT +R verb's always burned at 8X and have had excellent results maybe 4 spindles out of all those wasn't up to par.

I haven't tried the 4.7 Verbs, but the DLs are trash. But if Verbatim is beginning to job out to manufacturers in India, it may be time to switch brands. I had some TDK CDs that were no longer American made, but MII. Yes, I did have some American manufactured TDK discs and the failure rate was about 3%. Anyway, I had about a 70% failure rate with the MII CDs. The MII Verb DL discs had an 80% failure rate. My MIT and MIS Verb DLs were great. Failure rate there was about 12%.
Nothing but junk appears to come from India nowdays.
I guess I'll stick with my MIJ Sonys and my TY discs.
