hi ,

i have a 2 dvd set that i bought , this is a set that was made with a dvd-recorder and they are dvd-r's . the disc have the vr format which is what i assume is made when these are made in a standalone dvd recorder , these are i am sure a copy of the original dvd's that he made in that recorder . with that this is the problem , i tried to make a back-up as i like to keep the original put up and i haev tried everything imaginable , these are the programs i have tried -

dvd decrypter
dvd shrink
dvd fab hd decrypter
imgburn
fixvts
also tried tried to make a copy of this thru nero

i keep getting a error messeage which i think is a problem with the vob 2 files , it will get almost thru , maybe 80 percent and it starts to get read error's and the program locks . i thought it maybe bad media but i had him send me another set and the same thing with the new set . he sent these on what i think is memorex media or something just as cheap and i ask him to send me a set made on either maxell or sony dvd-r's and see what happens . i even tried the path player option in dvdfab but no luck either . i have never had a dvd i could not back up , just a thought on what the experts may have . thanks

A VR disk (editable disk) if recorded to DVD-R, then finalized in the original recorder, becomes a standard DVD.

If the disk has the standard DVD file format (VIDEO_TS folder containing VOB BUP and IFO files) then AFAIK it's not a DVD-VR disk.

Does the disk play back on the PC and a standalone player?

hi ,

we'll i believe that this disc has the vr mode on it because when you put in dvd decrypter it says this beside the disc name . it plays fine in the pc and the standalone dvd player , the quality is excellent . that is why i wanted to back these up to perserve the original . it may have been made in the standalone player and not been burned in a pc , just cannot figure out why i cannot back this up . thanks

A burned disk doesn't have to be decrypted and dragging the VIDEO_TS folder onto the desktop from the DVD should not prove a problem unless the file is corrupt and a scan of the disk with Nero CD-DVD Speed tool, should show it.

yea , i just tried dvd decrypter and thought maybe i could get it on the hard drive . i may have to try the method you said about dragging the video ts folder onto the desktop . i have tried everything else , i usually just make a iso folder and make a copy thru imgburn . but this one has me puzzeld , i wish i could figure it out . thanks for your help
