Trying to use Nero Wave Editor to record some vinyl. Everything appears to work OK during the recording phase but when I play back the WAV it is too slow. Playing it in Windows Media Player is slow too. However, if I use the simple Windows Sound Recorder it records and plays just fine. Machine is a Dell Dimension 8300 (3.0Ghz), XP Home, Nero 6, onboard sound. I'm sampling at 44,16, all default settings. Using the same version of Nero under Win98 on my old machine worked just fine. Nero Tech Support yet to offer anything helpful. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I'd just use another sound recorder for recording (= save to .wav), e.g. Messer.

For editing you should be able to use Nero Wave Editor or e.g. Audacity (free).

Thanks. I'm actually using Windows Sound Recorder (with the workaround that lets you record more than 60 secs) until I can solve this mystery. I'd really like to understand what is causing it.

Most likely it's caused by wav header containing wrong sample rate. Have a look at the 6th post in this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/42101

Sounds like this is caused by Nero.

Problem solved by cleaning all traces of Nero (using their clean tool) and downloading latest versions. This seems to be the recommended course of action for a lot of problems. In fact, I'll probably make a point of doing this whenever an update is available now.
