how are you connected to the router, ethernet cable or usb? if ethernet cable then no need for the install disk.

is your network card enabled in device manager? goto network connections, right click on network card, do properties & put check mark in box to show connection in taskbar.

is your netcard intergrated into your motherboard or a pci card? as your card does not show in device manager & if intergrated into motherboard then it is disabled in the bios so enable it in the bios. will need motherboard disk to load netcard driver if xp doesn't load it's own driver.

did you run the broadcom driver program? wifi is for wireless which you are not unless your router has antennas.
