HP DVD200E: Won't burn?

I just got a HP DVD200E (External 2.4X DVD burner +r and +rw support only)

I've tried RecordMaxNow, and Nero Ultra (6.00.23), and neither one will burn.

I am using a Philips 2.4 DVD+rw blank. It keeps erroring out right away when i use either program to try and burn a DVD.

I have done a firmware update. Does anyone know of Philips 2.4 DVD+rw's are incompatible with this drive, or could anyone help me?

I've got the same burner and it works with +RW's but I can not get it to work with +R's. I've bought an internal HP 200i since and a BenQ burner, each for $100.00 and they both work.
