My C90s is connected to my viewsonic via HDMI, and my viewsonic is connected to my Logitech z-5500 via S/PDIF optical out.
Now my problem is the software that my C90s came with (Realtech HD audio manager) only allows me to either select stereo or S/PDIF digital output, when the S/PDIF is selected it turns on the HDMI out, but it seems to only give virtual surround sound to my speakers instead of uncompressed which hdmi is supposed to offer. Is there any way for me to enable 5.1 output of Digital sound through my HDMI port on my computer? I know theres a difference between the virtual and real digital data being sent to my Z-5500 because when my ps3 is plugged in via optical it just says digital where as when my computer is plugged in it uses Pro Logic II to emulate surround sound.
How do I get the best quality of sound out of it? Is it best for me to leave the HDMI as is, or should i buy a usb surround sound hook up for my laptop and then use direct inputs for it. I was looking at the creative one on tiger direct.
Second question, how do I get the best quality of resolution from my hdtv, right now Im using 1080i but font looks pretty ugly on it. Graphics arent too bad, but nowhere near as sharp as on a monitor. I have a Nvidia 8600gt, with bioshock drivers. Whats the best thing to do to improve image quality?
