Hi, my PC is 3 years old now, i want to upgrade it, because i cant really afford to buy a new system.

My current motherboard is: ASUS PTGD1-LA Socket 775

Does anyone know if this can support dual core, and could it support this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132310/show_product_reviews.

Thanks.

Here are some basic concepts one has to follow while upgrading a PC.

1)Removing your case covers
2)Install CD Burner, installing a cd writer / dvd player
3)Install Hard Drive, installing a hard drive (IDE)
4)Installing a SATA hard drive
5)Install Memory (DIMM), installing dimms (RAM upgrade)
6)Install laptop Memory (DIMM), installing notebook RAM
7)Install Modem / Sound Card / NIC Card (PCI Card)
8)Install Video Card, installing a video card (AGP)
9)Post Beep Codes, AMI & Phoenix BIOS error codes
10)IRQ settings, ISA IRQ assignments, resolve conflicts

Unfortunately the architecture in that PC will be too old to make upgrading worthwhile. it will be cheaper to start from scratch. You can of course keep your disk drives and probably your case, but the rest will need an upgrade.
