hey guys im knda new to the whole laptop stuff as ive only ever worked with desktops. anyway ive just upgraded the ram on my laptop but i still wanna go that ittle bit faster. is there anyway i can upgrade the cpu on my laptop and if so how do i know wat socket it is? the laptop is a ACER Travelmate 4102WLMi. and the cpu in it now is a Intel Pentium M Processor 740. (1.73ghz, 5333 mhz fsb, 2MB L2 cache) any help would be great. cheers
With laptops you could only add a CPU from the same series, so you could only get an extra couple of hundred mhz by doing that. Really, it's not worth bothering with I'm afraid.

The Intel Socket P is the mobile processor socket replacement for the new Intel Core 2 chips. It has an 800 MT/s FSB, that can be switched 'on the fly' to 400MT/s to save power. It launched on May 9, 2007, as part of the Santa Rosa platform. Socket P has 478 pins, but is not pin-compatible with Socket M or Socket 478.
