I want to build a Media Center PC and I have a few questions.

Ok.. where to start.

What's the realistic minimum requirements for the following. I doubt I'll be doing any recording, just showing movies. (I plan on converting my personal library of dvds to divx, then put my DVDs in storage)

Processor (I have a 3.2ghz proc just sitting here)
RAM (I have 1GB also just sitting here)
Video (I want to do 1080 output via HDMI)
Audio
Network (doesn't matter - files will be stored locally)

I'm fine with a standard DVD Player.

I really want to do 1080 Upconversion on my output for DVD and DIVX files not recorded in HD.

What do you recommend on this forum?

I want a case that sits in my media rack with my other gear and looks like a larger dvd player. Must have a remote (recommendations?).

I'd also like to have a case that has room for 4 SATA drives AND a DVDROM. Onboard RAID 5 would be wonderful, if not at least room in the case to add a card. I plan on installing 4 - 750GB or 1TB drives plus the DVDROM in the case. I can go firewire to external raid box (or scsi) but it would be best if I could limit this to 1 box in my rack.

Which flavor of media center is best?
